One of the most visible and reliable sources of HTC rumors and leaks tweeted on Tuesday that some of the more recent HTC “hero” phones – the Droid DNA, the One X+, the One X+ LTE and EVO 4G LTE – will be receiving updates to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and HTC’s newest user interface, Sense 5.0.
Presently, HTC is still rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates to some device owners , while the new flagship HTC One will be shipping with Android 4.1 out of the box. The company has yet to officially confirm which devices will be upgradable to Android 4.2.
According to the Twitter account, the four handsets mentioned above, all high-end devices at their time of release, will level up to Android 4.2 in time. That too applies to the HTC One (referred to by its former codename “M7” on the tweet), which will be upgraded to the newest Jelly Bean version, Android 4.2.2.
As HTC hasn’t confirmed any update schedules or a list of devices upgradable to Android 4.2 and/or Sense 5, nothing is official. We must remember that @LlabTooFer, formerly @Football4PDA, has been very accurate with HTC leaks, so there’s a good chance all the devices mentioned above will be moving up to the new operating system and UI. Curiously, @LlabTooFer did not specify any other HTC phones that may be getting Sense 5 as per HTC, such as the HTC One X and One S from early last year.
HTC wasn’t too clear whether those two phones would be receiving the new UI, but did insinuate earlier that some Sense 5 features may be added to those devices in the coming month. HTC didn’t elaborate at that time whether the One X and One S would receive Android 4.2 updates.
