Owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) residing in South
Asia and other countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and
Thailand recently started receiving the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly
Bean update (N7100XXDMA6).

Coming with key bug fixes and performance enhancements, the new
firmware update should be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update for
the Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) running on official firmware in the
supported countries. The firmware can also be downloaded from Samsung
Kies.

However, if you are still facing difficulties in updating your device
to the new firmware build, you can do it by installing Android 4.1.2
Jelly Bean update (N7100XXDMA6) manually on your Galaxy Note 2.

Take a look at the official firmware details below:

PDA: N7100XXDMA6

CSC: N7100ODDDMA1

Version: 4.1.2

Date: 25-01-2013

Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

The installation procedure explained below includes a tool called
ODIN, which is required to flash the stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware in
Galaxy Note 2 N7100. Users are also recommended to take proper backups
of their data.

There are certain other vital aspects to keep in mind:

- The device must have at least 80 percent battery power

- There should be backup for the EFS Folder

- USB drivers for the device must be installed on the computer

- USB Debugging must be enabled

- After flashing the firmware, you will lose custom ROMs such as CM10, Paranoid Android or AOKP installed in your device

- You will also lose custom recovery such as ClockworkMod Recovery or TWRP Recovery if you have any

- After installing the firmware on your Galaxy Note 2, you will lose root if you have any

Users should also take note that this tutorial is only for Samsung
Galaxy Note 2, model number GT- N7100. Therefore it should not be tried
on any other Android device.

In addition, users must proceed at their own risk. IBTimes cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong.

Step 1: Download Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (N7100XXDMA6) for Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) and extract the file.

Step 2: Download Odin 3.07 and extract the file.

Step 3: Switch off Galaxy Note 2 and put it on the Download Mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume Down and Home buttons while pressing the Power button. After you get a warning screen, press Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.

Step 4: Run Odin 3.07.exe as an Administrator.

Step 5: Connect Galaxy Note 2 to your computer via
the USB while it is on the Download Mode. If the device is connected
properly, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port
number.

Step 6: Select the following files in the Odin at relevant tabs from extracted N7100XXDMA6 firmware folder:

- Click on PDA and select file with CODE in its name

- Click on Phone and select file with MODEM in its name (Ignore this step if there is no such file)

- Click on CSC and select file with CSC in its name (Ignore this step if there is no such file)

- Click on PIT and select the .pit file. Use this file only if you
get it while extracting the zip file mentioned in step 1 or else just
ignore it

Step 7: In the Odin window, ensure that Auto Reboot
and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, if you are using a .pit
file, ensure that re-partition checkbox is selected. Otherwise, it
should not be ticked.

Step 8: Click on the Start button to begin flashing.

Step 9: After flashing is done, you will see a “pass” message with a green background in the left-most box at the top of the Odin.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) will now reboot automatically. After
you get the Samsung logo on the home screen, you can disconnect the
device from the computer.
